I had the opportunity to craft a range of unique concepts for Thomson Holidays' shopfront displays. The goal was to create eye-catching and engaging displays without relying on the usual focus on price points. The concept we settled on was to use a mosaic of tiny holiday snapshots to assemble a larger, captivating "hero" image. This design was intended to draw passersby in for a closer look, ultimately enticing them into the store.
Each poster was a meticulous assembly of 580 individual photos, each carefully placed to accurately represent the tonal shifts of the overarching image. The challenge lay in maintaining the main image's clarity from afar while ensuring the detailed mosaic remained discernible upon closer examination.
Seeing this project through from its initial idea to its final execution was immensely rewarding. I am particularly proud of the result. The client was delighted by the results which were amplified by the industry awards received for the innovative decision to remove traditional price-focused displays. This success sparked a customer engagement campaign, inviting customers to contribute their vacation photos for a new series of posters, further escalating the project's reach and impact nationwide.
