Shift Recruitment, established in 2017, focused on consulting and recruiting services in the e-commerce sector. They positioned themselves as a challenger brand in a competitive marketplace delivering a unique personal service to HR departments in small and large firms. Shift aimed to redefine the industry standard by providing a personal touch for their client and candidate alike.
I was initially commissioned to develop Shift's logo, briefed to make it unique and quirky with stand-out appeal against their competitors. The challenge lay in marrying an idiosyncratic design with their brand name while strengthening their position as experts in the recruitment field.
Following the successful logo design, I was tasked with evolving Shift's visual brand style. Inspired by the concept of shifting from an old to a new way of recruitment, and guided by insightful input from the client, I developed a graphic style that combines vintage black-and-white imagery with vibrant, bold shapes. This approach resulted in a compelling and distinct brand aesthetic, communicating Shift's unique approach to recruitment while setting them apart in a crowded field.
My contributions extended across various brand materials, including email signatures, brochures, office posters, social media graphics, presentations, and website visuals. It was a privilege to support Shift's journey and play a role in its branding efforts until the unforeseen closure of the business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Exploring and enhancing the brand's visual identity became a fun and creative graphic exploration. Integrating black and white photography with Shift's vibrant brand colours and circular motifs contributed to a more unified brand experience. These circles symbolise Shift's comprehensive recruitment strategy, and the contrast of historical imagery depicting communication and technology from a past era with modern design elements effectively illustrates Shift's focus on their sector of expertise.
Maintaining a cohesive visual theme across their digital presence ensured a consistent brand recognition for potential clients and candidates.
